Collection: rfd

A self-confessed denim devotee, Anita Pathania carved out an early niche for herself at Levi Strauss before going on to create her independent label, rfd. Rooted in minimalism yet rich in visual depth, her garments balance industrial strength with softness, offering pieces that feel both grounding and sensorial.

rfd, short for ready for dyeing, reflects Anita’s deep connection to fashion and her fascination with garment over-dyeing as an expressive medium. Influenced by Brutalist design philosophy, she often begins with a single material, allowing color to take on a life of its own. Through fading, bleaching, washing, stripping, dripping, blotching, and spraying, surface becomes language. As Anita puts it, garments spend hours moving through dye baths and laundry drums until the right hand feel emerges, and then, as she says, “magic happens.”

Firmly committed to the manual side of making, Anita remains deeply hands-on at every stage of production. She combines traditional hand techniques with contemporary jeanswear knowledge to create clothing that is timeless, gender-neutral, and quietly radical. Each piece reflects patience, intuition, and an insistence on process over polish.
